Well, hello there! Thanks for stopping by. This blog is a passion project that needed to happen for a few reasons.

In the summer of 2016, I was experiencing a lot of issues with my back and alignment. Up until that point, I was a casual gym-goer at best. I would focus a couple of dedicated months to training, only to find myself lose the motivation and drive and fall back on old unhealthy habits.

I decided to see a chiropractor and was diagnosed with scoliosis. It was a relief to know that all the discomfort had a root cause, but at the same time, I felt like I was going to suffer for the rest of my life with this medical condition. I proceeded to scour the internet for ways to resolve my issue and find a solution. The truth is that scoliosis is not curable, and surgery is an option for extreme cases.

This diagnosis was the spark that lit the path to my fitness journey. I resolved to find the best way to train and improve my body so that I could live a life without pain. The good news was that I started cultivating a 1% better each day mindset. I began by taking each day as an opportunity to build the habit of movement. Some days felt more challenging than others, but for the first time, I felt this intrinsic push that had been absent for so many years.

I was no longer motivated by reasons solely pertaining to aesthetics. Now, it was more about building strength and stability to house a healthy body that will serve me well in old age. I started consuming as much information on training, nutrition, and mindset that I possibly could. While I managed to find a wealth of knowledge, I noticed that I had to sift through a sea of opinions and half-truths on these topics.

While it was frustrating that so many "bro-science" sources were purporting the benefits of the latest diet fad or way of training to make a buck, I saw a need to focus on science. I wanted to use my Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry to share an evidence-based approach and encourage you to think critically.

I've spent hours reading peer-reviewed research and translated it into an easily digestible format to give you access to the latest studies and how they can help you optimize your training and nutrition. Is science evolving? Absolutely. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to finding what works for you. However, I hope that these articles serve as a foundational blueprint and starting point on your exploration in achieving optimal health.

My mission is that you strive to be 1% better each day to uncover your potential and possibilities in your health journey.
